Kurdish edge it in extra time thriller!
Sarkhar Ahmadi's extra time strike proved decisive as Kurdish United lifted the Chell Cup following a thrilling 3-2 final victory over Beacon Lions.
A fantastic final, providing many twists and turns, was won by Kurdish who twice came from behind to take the tie into extra time.
Both teams served up a wonderful match, which was a credit to the league and it was Beacon Lions who drew first blood when Jase Wood opened the scoring after 24 minutes before Sarhan Rawf pounced for his 27th goal of the season to level matters going into the half time interval.
The second period was as frantic as the first and captain Anton Rickards restored the Lions advantage with just twenty minutes remaining. Kurdish were then thrown a lifeline with the clock ticking down. Following a push in the penalty area, Hamza Namiq stepped up and sent Lions keeper Lee Wood the wrong way with his confidently dispatched spot kick to take the tie into extra time before Ahmadi's goal started the celebrations rolling for the large, jubilant watching Kurdsih support.
Five star Matthews puts Rangers in seventh heaven!
Prolific Kyle Matthews was in devastating form, firing Claregate Park Rangers to a league and cup double with a five goal blast in the final of the league's flagship Lester Charity cup.
Matthews blasted in his first after just six minutes and completed his hat-trick after just 26 minutes to brush aside the challenge of Paycare development division runners up Bloxwich Rangers U21 in a frantic first half. The same player netted his fourth before Nathan Ratcliffe made it 5-0 just before the break.
Clinton cup finalists, Bloxwich, to their credit never gave up and Reece Berry grabbed a consolation after Reece Chambers had scored a superb free kick for number six. Man of the Match Matthews had the last word as he completed a remarkable afternoon with a fifth strike to start the celebrations rolling for Claregate.
Trysull at the double!
Trysull Tigers have rounded off a superb first season in the Beacon Football League, winning the Clinton Cup following a 2-0 victory over rivals Bloxwich Rangers U21.
Trysull, who have already sealed the Paycare Development division title from Rangers on goal difference, completed a memorable night at AFC Wulfrunians' CKW Stadium.
Man of the match Tom Hudson broke the deadlock after 42 minutes and it was left to Jack Pitchford to seal victory in the final minute, much to the delight of the watching Trysull spectators and management duo of Steve Hussey and Roger Martin.
Claregate seal first title win
Gary Cooper's Claregate Park Rangers sealed the Redbox Signmakers Beacon Championship following a thrilling seasons long campaign.
The Rangers, who are based at Barnhurst Lane in Wolverhampton, secured the title on Sunday finishing worthy champions ahead of previous holders Dynamo Dudley.
Claregate, supported by the goal scoring feats of formiddable striker Kyle Matthews, will look to add more silverware to their impressive season when they take on Bloxwich Rangers in the final of the Lester Charity cup on Sunday 28th April.
Many congratulations to all at Claregate from the Beacon League management committee.
Trysull Crowned Champions!
Trysull Tigers are celebrating after securing the Paycare Development Division title in remarkable circumstances.
The South Staffordshire based outfit needed to win their remaining fixture against Coven United by ten clear goals to snatch the prize away from rivals and long term leaders Bloxwich Rangers and Steve Hussey's team did just that in style with a 15-0 last day of the season spectacular.
It has been quite a season for newcomers Tigers after making the step up from junior football and they now have their sights set on the Clinton Cup Final where they face non other than Bloxwich at AFC Wulfrunians' CKW Stadium on 25th April.
Many congratulations to all at Trysull Tigers from the Beacon Football League management committee.
